River Wye Trip Report

Despite numbers being depleted by weddings and work, three of us headed out from a camping site at Holme Lacy in our club kayaks.  Full day paddling took us to Ross on Wye, where the local rowing club kindly let us camp in their grounds.

Having sampled the delights of Ross on Wye the night before, we set off to Monmouth – with the prospect of  some white water at Symonds Yat to liven up the trip.  The river towards Monmouth proved a little busier as there was a Heads competition being hosted by the Monmouth Rowing club

The Wye is frequently described as the most beautiful river in the UK and from our experience we would agreed and add probably one of the friendliest – rowers, fishermen and paddlers all existing in harmony!

A huge thanks also to Monmouth Canoes www.monmouthcanoe.co.uk, who generously taxied us back
